A book rack is a small desk top book case.
This sort of book shelf is also known as a book seat and is the ideal solution for the storage of books which are frequently in use. Book seats are difficult to find now, and that although they have been very popular in the past, their usefulness seems to have been forgotten.

Recently a biographer commissioned me to make him a book seat. He needed something elegant to keep on his desk where he could easily reach the reference books he needed whilst researching his latest biography. He was elated by his acquisition and this now seems to have rekindled an interest in this very useful piece of furniture

We have since made many books seats in a range of designs for a variety of situations, such as Cookery books in the kitchen, novels by the bedside and reference books in the study.
